Old Worthington Welcomes Swoonful Gifts
We recently wrote about Igloo Letterpress’s new location on High Street in Downtown Worthington. And if you haven’t had the chance to check out their new space, you should. In addition to their expanded product line and exciting list of class offerings, the new, much larger Igloo boasts an adorable gift shop at the front of the store – Swoonful Gifts. You might remember Igloo Letterpress’s previous location, which housed a small gift shop on West New England Avenue. As plans came together for the big move, the Igloo team decided to expand the gift shop and dreamed of filling it with products made by local artists. To do so, they sought the help of Miriam Chon, a fellow Worthington resident who owned a small, unique shop in Westerville at the time.
“I was thrilled when Allison Chapman approached me about the opportunity to collaborate with Igloo Letterpress,” Chon said. “It’s been wonderful to work in the community where I live and to help support so many amazing local talents.”
With an emphasis on independent and locally sourced products, Swoonful Gifts specializes in quirky, out-of-the-way items that are sure to make you smile – and maybe even chuckle. “I think a sense of humor is important, and I love hearing people laugh when they walk around our store,” Chon said.
We recently stopped by the shop to check out their inventory, which is always changing, and found plenty to swoon over. Chon and her husband built out the inside of the store, which is spacious and welcoming. They used local, salvaged woods throughout the space and built their creative cash wrap using books donated by the Worthington Library.
A quick walk around the place revealed these fun items…
- Soaps made with beer yeast
- Hand-made leather goods by the beloved local artisan, Of an Era
- Cards, prints and calendars by Igloo Letterpress
- Art, t-shirts and illustrations by Will Ruocco
- Baby items
- Clothing
- Seasonal gifts
- And more!
While many of the items that Chon carries in the store are from Worthington artists, she also seeks out products from all over Ohio. “We like to keep things fresh and are always on the lookout for new artists to feature,” Chon said.
Swoonful Gifts is located inside Igloo Letterpress’s teal blue storefront at 661 High Street. For more information about store hours, products and events, visit their website and check them out on Instagram.
