Dog Park Grand Opening July 14th
Dogs big and small will soon have a new playground to visit with their owners. Through a partnership with the Cities of Worthington and Columbus, a new dog park is getting ready to open on Godown Road. The Godown Dog Park opens to the public with a Grand Opening event on Saturday, July 14th. The land, owned by the City of Worthington, is located in the City of Columbus along Godown Road, just west of Linworth Road. The creation of a Dog Park for Worthington area dogs and their owners started over four years ago. A citizens group, Worthington Organized Off-leash Friends, or WOOF, formed and has provided significant support in advocating for the dog park in Worthington, fundraising, coordinating volunteer efforts and contributing input to the design and operations of the park. The Godown Dog Park will include separate fenced areas for small dogs and large dogs. Both areas are shaded and include benches, water fountains for both dogs and people, paved parking and an information kiosk. The kiosk was donated and installed by the Dublin-Worthington Rotary and WOOF’s fundraising efforts paid for the water fountains and other amenities. Prior to the public opening, a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the City of Columbus will take place on July 9th at 1:00 p.m. Please call Parks & Recreation at 436-2743 for information.
