Wine and Dine with the Worthington Chamber

It’s that time of year again! The Worthington Chamber of Commerce is excited to host its 18th annual Reds, Whites & Desserts event this Friday, April 24, 2015. If you’ve never taken part in this fantastic fundraiser, you’re in for a treat.

Here are a few reasons we think you'll like this event:

• Outstanding wines – As the title suggests, you’ll have the opportunity to taste 35 different red and white wines throughout the evening. The wines, which will be presented by nine area restaurants and wine shops, including Worthington’s J. Liu Restaurant & Bar, are hand selected for the fundraiser. “I’ll be bringing along some of our restaurant’s lesser-known labels,” said Chip Mullen, general manager at J. Liu. “There are a number of obscure wines on our list that are quite excellent, and I look forward to sharing them.”

• Delicious appetizers and desserts – In addition to your wine palate, you’ll want to bring along your appetite as well. The evening’s hors d’oeuvres will be provided by The Whitney House, Worthington’s newest bistro, and by the Bridgewater Banquet & Conference Center. Individuals with a sweet tooth will enjoy sampling and bidding on a variety of decadent desserts from 20 area chamber member bakeries and caterers.

• Irresistible auction items – Get ready for a little friendly competition! Guests will have the opportunity to bid on more than 50 different silent and live auction baskets containing weekend getaways, jewelry, gift certificates and more. All of baskets will follow a “Black and Gold” theme, including several inspired by the popular television series Mad Men. Among this year’s big-ticket items is a custom made Tahitian (black) pearl necklace and earring set from Worthington Jewelers. The pearls, which are set in yellow gold and adorned with diamonds, are worth $2800. “We love participating in this fabulous event,” said Theresa Capace of Worthington Jewelers. “We’re excited to display this beautiful piece and can’t wait for the bidding to start.”
