Concerts on the Green Returns for Another Season

For many Worthington residents, summer just wouldn't be summer without the wildly popular Concert on the Green series. You'll be glad to hear that this year's lineup is bringing some pretty incredible talent to the stage. In fact, you're sure to find something every member of your family will enjoy.

If you’ve never been to one of these events, you’re in for a treat. Most concerts take place on Sunday evenings at 7 p.m. on the northwest quadrant of the Village Green. Simply bring a picnic dinner and a blanket or lawn chair, and settle in for a special evening of live music. The concerts, which are hosted by the Worthington Parks & Recreation Department, feature an eclectic variety of musical styles ranging from singer/songwriter to big band, jazz, swing and Americana.

“We’re excited for another summer of great music,” said Melissa Hindman, marketing and community outreach supervisor. “We’re proud of the talent we’ve been able to attract year after year and are incredibly thankful for the many partners and sponsors who make it possible.

Here’s a look at some of this season's highlights:

  • Back by Popular Demand: Occasionally, Concerts on the Green hosts a show that’s so good, it has to be repeated. In this year’s ‘back by popular demand’ category, you will enjoy the reggae/rock sounds of the Andy Shaw Band on July 10, the superb vocal harmonies of the Irish singing group, Ladies of Longford, on July 24, the sights and sounds of Eric Gnezda’s nationally syndicated show, Songs at the Center, on July 31 and the always exciting Ohio 122nd Army Band on Saturday, August 6.
  • New to the Stage: On July 17, the award-winning, horn-driven New Basics Band will make its long-awaited debut on the Concerts on the Green stage. And on this year’s tribute band night, you'll love singing along to all of your favorite Paul McCartney songs when The McCartney Project lights up the stage on August 14.
  • T-shirts and Posters For Sale: Show your support for Concerts on the Green and purchase this year’s exclusive concert t-shirt or poster, designed by local Worthington artist Will Ruocco
