Celebrating Independence Day–the Worthington Way
Join your neighbors and friends for an Independence Day tradition in Worthington on Thursday, July 4. The Worthington Family Picnic and Fireworks Celebration takes place on the lawn of Thomas Worthington High School with food, musical entertainment, Super Games and more.
Beginning at 4 p.m., individuals are invited to gather with their lawn chairs and blankets for a Fourth of July picnic. Either bring your own food or purchase grilled hot dogs and brats for sale at the event. The kids can enjoy the bouncy and colorful Super Games while wandering mascots provide additional roaming entertainment. At the same time, the Crew Experience will be on hand for individuals who want an opportunity to show off their soccer skills.
DJ music begins at 8 p.m. to welcome the fireworks crowd to the high school stadium. Fireworks officially blast off at 10 p.m. with the best viewing from the picnic location on the front lawn of the high school or at the football
stadium to the west of the high school.
To help alleviate any parking challenges, people who live nearby are encouraged to walk or bike to the event. Limited parking will be available at the high school parking lot to the west and north of the building, and the municipal lot in the downtown area will be open as well.
The Worthington Independence Day Family Picnic started as a bicentennial event in 2003. Today it is sponsored by the Dublin-Worthington Rotary.
