5 Great Holiday Events in Worthington
Thanksgiving is upon us, and that means the holidays are in full swing. Here at the Convention & Visitors Bureau of Worthington, we're working together with the Old Worthington Partnership and other community organizations to make you and your visitors aware of everything that Worthington has to offer during this special time of the year. In a recent blog post, we wrote about 5 holiday favorites in Worthington, and we focused on a few of the goodies and special gifts you can enjoy this holiday season. Now we're turning our attention to holiday fun, which begins with the Holiday Open House on November 29. Here's a quick rundown of some of the upcoming events you won't want to miss. Holiday Open House – November 29
Old Worthington’s Holiday Open House is the perfect way to kick off the season with family and friends. The free event takes place in downtown Worthington from 12 to 5:30 p.m. and features horse-drawn carriage rides, Christmas shopping, holiday treats, live music, a visit with Santa and the annual Christmas tree lighting. Here's a rundown of the day’s activities, including a few new events:
- A visit and pictures with Santa on the front steps of The Worthington Inn (12 to 4 p.m.)
- Skating on Worthington's Iceless Ice Rink at the corner of High Street and New England Avenue; this synthetic plastic polymer rink, which simulates the ice-skating experience, will be open from 12 to 8 p.m. and is free with a donation to the Worthington Resource Pantry
- Window shopping takes on new meaning as 23 storefronts vie for the best window display in this year's "It's a Wonderful Window" competition; visit them all and vote for your favorite
- The annual lighting of the Worthington Christmas tree on the southeast Village Green at 5:30 p.m.
Illuminating Shopping – December 3
