Farmers Markets Don’t Just Happen!

Farmers markets don't just happen without MARKET OPERATORS. While no two farmers markets are the same, all farmers markets are managed and require huge amounts of work behind the scenes to thrive. From navigating local laws and codes, building vendor relationships, to troubleshooting technical issues, marketing, and physically setting up the market.

Farmers markets don't just happen without VENDORS. Farmers, ranchers, artisans and other producers make up the vast network of people who rely on farmers markets for their economic livelihoods. Vendors make up the heart and character of every market and it's thanks to their dedication to farm-direct outlets that farmers markets serve as a hub for local food systems in communities across the country.

Farmers markets don't just happen without CUSTOMERS. Every single person who supports a farmers market is helping the market thrive! Without visitors who come out (rain or shine, baby!) farmers markets could not come back week after week. Farmers markets are truly a collective affair and wouldn't be possible without every single community member.

Community Table - SWACO Save More Than Food

Nearly a million pounds of wasted food is landfilled every single day in Franklin County. There are a million better uses for that food, so we’ve worked with partners to update the Food Waste Action Plan to drive solutions to reach our shared food waste reduction goals. Learn about the work planned for the year ahead at www.swaco.org/PlanUpdate. Learn more at Booth #84 in the Graeter’s parking lot.
