Get a Taste of Comfort Cooking at Subourbon Southern Kitchen & Cocktails
Back in July Subourbon Southern Kitchen & Cocktails opened in Linworth, bringing to the neighborhood a creative take on classic comfort fare.
Long-time residents will remember the space as the former home to Hoggy’s and The Crafty Pint, and with the arrival of Subourbon the cozy restaurant once again welcomes guests to Linworth.
Subourbon is owned by Jacob Hough and Patrick Marker, proprietors of Alqueria Farmhouse Kitchen in Victorian Village. The duo were previously long-time employees at Barcelona in German Village before opening up their two ventures. At Subourbon they’re joined by chef Odine Hong, who’s helped design a menu focused all around Southern comfort food and matched by a terrific whiskey menu, dynamic cocktails, and excellent beer and wine lists.
The former Hoggy’s/Crafty Pint space has been given a quick makeover to create a cozy and approachable tavern feel. The restaurant features multiple dining rooms plus a small front patio.
The cocktail menu typically features about 10 entries, with a heavier focus on whiskeys. So you can taste a classic Manhattan, a chai Old Fashioned, or a Paper Plane, or seasonal selections like a spiced pear mule or the Witches Brew with Appleton's Rum, Falernum, Amaretto Disaronno, and lemon juice.
The bourbon selection features dozens of tastes, including classic bourbons, ryes, locally made entries, imported spirits, flavored whiskeys, and a solid collection of rare bourbons.
The food menu covers all of your favorite Southern dishes, often given a creative spin that will make you fall in love with them all over again. From the starters, try the pork belly burnt ends, catfish and okra, pork rinds, or fried green tomatoes. You can continue working your way through salads, seafood gumbo, corn chowder, or sandwiches like catfish po’ boys, hot chicken sandwiches, burgers, or fried green tomato clubs.
But don’t miss spectacular entrees like chicken fried chicken, pork chops, shrimp and grits, Impossible meatloaf, clams, rib-eyes, and more. Add in sides like mashed potatoes, collard greens, cheesy grits, mac and cheese, plus a kid’s menu, and Subourbon is sure to become a long-time destination in Linworth!
Keep an eye out for special events like bourbon- or wine-pairing dinners, whiskey tastings, wine specials, and more.
