FAM Trip photoThe Worthington Experience was included in a recent Experience Columbus FAM trip. Roger Dudley, tour and sales manager at Experience Columbus, recently hosted 11 travel professionals for a three-day FAM (familiarization) trip designed to showcase Columbus. As part of that trip, the group spent an entire evening in Worthington where they poured their own candles at The Candle Lab, enjoyed wine served by House Wine, and ate dinner at The Worthington Inn.

"Many of (the participants) said it was one of their favorite evenings," Dudley said about the Worthington Experience. "They like that Worthington is charming and walk-able. The coach can park easily, and they can make their candles and have dinner at The Worthington Inn."

The dinner, which was hosted by the Convention & Visitors Bureau of Worthington and The Worthington Inn, was the perfect ending to a full day of activities. Dudley was quick to acknowledge the exceptional culinary efforts at The Worthington Inn, along with the added convenience of being able to accommodate large groups of people in an intimate setting.

It's worth noting that while the primary goal of the trip was to showcase areas of Columbus, which predictably included popular spots like German Village and the Short North, Worthington was one of only three suburbs on the itinerary. That in itself is testament to the fact that Worthington is considered one of Central Ohio's most enjoyable destinations.

FAM trips are typically designed to increase product or destination knowledge. In this case, the main goal was to sell Greater Columbus as an exciting destination to this group of tour operators. "They have the potential to bring groups back to Columbus in the future," Dudley said. The individuals represented organizations from six states, including Missouri, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Kentucky and Ohio.
